Mr. Cheeseburger, I apologize. Got caught up with real life.

Ok, and a friend or two's Star Wars fanfics. :)

The dove and the crows thing... and the "I don't go to Church anymore..." Whoa.

I hope Luc and Celise can get back together. It sounds like he didn't dip too far into the Dark Side to not be able to come back. Crossing fingers.

Cheeseburger, if you don't become a famous author... that will be the true tragedy. :)

Oh, and yes, I *could* hear the Imperial March at the end of chapter 11. ;)Sith Snoopyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13294342645166710232noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16435271.post-1169859814331352782007-01-26T20:03:00.000-05:002007-01-26T20:03:00.000-05:00A pretty good read, all-in-all. I share the confusion of Mark and pneuma, but it's not enough to detract from the story.

One can imagine Luc as sort of a futuristic pre-Reformation Martin Luther, lying naked in the snow in a vain attempt to achieve purity on his own.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16435271.post-1169832281912498062007-01-26T12:24:00.000-05:002007-01-26T12:24:00.000-05:00pneuma - I agree about the confusion over "forgive...pneuma - I agree about the confusion over "forgiveness."

CBB, the last sentence is one of the most beautiful you've written.

Thanks for another great story.Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08722639974320971726noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16435271.post-1169831262510387632007-01-26T12:07:00.000-05:002007-01-26T12:07:00.000-05:00Brilliant. I agree with Lukas, the paragraph with the murder of crows chasing away the single dove was a beautiful metaphor, foreshadowing the end, and continuing the tone of the Earth/Ares series.

I've only very recently begun to read these works. It is a world, a universe which is being created, into which we are granted pinholes here and there. I haven't ever had the privilege to see the creation and growth of such a world. It looks to be very, very consistent--at least, where the meaning-making part of my mind draws dotted lines, then solid lines, then vectors, then ... ?

I know this to be wonderful work by the way I feel at the conclusion of this particular tale: Closure accompanied by the mild disappointment that I've learnt everything there is to know about Luc for now.Brad Elevenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15675737872485116891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16435271.post-1169828696491252112007-01-26T11:24:00.000-05:002007-01-26T11:24:00.000-05:00Wonderful story, CBB. The ending was not the climactic explosion that I expected...but it was fitting, like the camera panning back to return the squabbles of the people on the bikes to the small cog in the larger picture that it really always had been.

I read this story differently than I did with most CBB tales. I'll admit that I only read up to episode 4 or so and then waiting until Chapter 11 to catch up. You had me so afraid of the bleak and horrible things you might have in store for Luc that I couldn't bare to read it in real time. I wanted to be able to push on to the end if things got tough. I don't know what that says about your writing...but I wanted to share. In the end, this story wasn't as bleak as it threatened to be. I'm leaving it with a whole range of emotions like orick said, but mostly I'm happy and eager to see Luc again if given the chance. That's good writing, Cheeseburger.

Thanks again for the obvious effort you put into this...and thanks, as always, for sharing.Moksha Grenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10585999080521869550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16435271.post-1169826583629572922007-01-26T10:49:00.000-05:002007-01-26T10:49:00.000-05:00I loved it. The murder of crows chasing away the dove connects me with the previous chapter so perfectly. "Staining us," he adds darkly. "Perverting us."

Thanks for a great ride. I do hope Luc has a future in the stories of Mars.
